Ingram gets Crucial and Lexar brands

Micron's Crucial and Lexar memory and storage brands are being added to Ingram Micro's line-up in a bid to increase the firm's exposure to the UK channel.

Crucial specialises in desktop, notebook and server memory upgrade products and has lately been making a good deal of noise around its SSD portfolio, sales of which have ramped up in the wake of last year's Thai flood crisis.

Lexar, meanwhile, specialises in flash memory, including USB drives, backup drives, card readers and mobile device memory cards.

Ingram Micro commercial directorm Mike Farrah, said that in light of "recent product shortages in some areas" the distie's product breadth and scale of availability meant it had been able to keep product flowing to SMB resellers, "while our expanded portfolio of netbooks and smartphones is driving increased sales for memory and SSD products".

"The Lexar and Crucial brands will further cement our position as the distributor of choice for memory and storage products," he said.
