Channel names handed gongs in Queen's list

Forget Gary Barlow and Kate Winslet, the real stars of the Queen's Birthday Honours were closer to home indicating that if you do good works then there are still rewards there for people connected with the computer and telco industry.

Forget Gary Barlow and Kate Winslet, the real stars of the Queen's Birthday Honours were closer to home indicating that if you do good works then there are still rewards there for people connected with the computer and telco industry.

The founder and chairman of the Carphone Warehouse Charles Dunstone was knighted, industry analyst Richard Holway was awarded an MBE and Sara Murray, a member of the Technology Strategy Board was given an OBE.

Dunstone was given the knight hood for services to the mobile communications industry as well as he work for charity and Murray for her work encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship.

Industry analyst Holway has worked tirelessly for the Prince's Trust leadership groups sharing his insights into where the world of IT is heading and raise money for the charity that helps young people.

"I feel greatly honoured to receive this award. I am just one of many people involved in the Prince's Trust Leadership Groups who have helped raise such significant amounts over the last ten years and I would like to think that this award is recognition for all their efforts as well," he said.
