Just a week after Microsoft grabbed the headlines unveiling its Surface tablet the spotlight is expected to fall on Google, which is planning to launch its own product in that form factor.
According to reports the search giant's developer conference, which starts in California tomorrow, will include as a highlight the launch of an Android tablet.
Reports stemming from an Australian web site claimed to have seen the specs of a 7 inch tablet that will be based on the Android platform and called the Nexus 7.
The initial target of the Google product appears to be the Kindle Fire with an expected price tag for the standard model believed to be around the $200 mark.
Google is holding two keynote sessions, one tomorrow and another on Thursday, when the product could potentially be unveiled but the company has not indicated any sort of agenda for those sessions so far.
