Unite has applauded the moves being made by Fujitsu to drive up minimum pay with the union
backing the rise for staff announced by the services specialist.
Most of the time the headlines concerning Unite and Fujitsu are concerning strike action and
reactions to redundancies but this time the union is all smiles after the minimum wage was raised
to £14,000 for all staff.
There are still some gripes about the levels of pay awarded to the top earners but the result of
the pay negotiations means that not too many staff will go home with effectively a zero percent
rise.
"Members welcome a fairer approach to pay from Fujitsu this year, which will mean many employees
receive bigger rises than they have done for years," said Kevin O'Gallagher, Unite national officer
for IT and communications.
"However, the company has made clear that it sees the 2012 pay review as a 'one-off' so it will be
important for staff to continue campaigning to ensure Fujitsu establishes a fair and transparent
approach to pay and benefits," he added.
