C2000 keeps focus on public sector

Simon Quicke

Computer 2000 continues to back up its ambitions of gaining more public sector business by extending the support for resellers keen to exploit what remains a vertical that can still offer rewards.

The distributor placed growing its public sector business as one of its top priorities this year when it updated suppliers back in March.

So far the distributor has held one tendering workshop day for resellers and will hold two more in the middle of this month (on the 12 and 16) as it looks to help more dealers get the skills needed to crack the public sector.

"With the government targeting 25 percent of all public sector procurement to go through SMEs, there are big opportunities for IT resellers. The Tendering Workshops help smaller resellers understand what’s required, overcome the perceived barriers and bid more effectively. They will give resellers the chance to get primed and ready to compete for business in the public sector," said Cathi Low, director public sector at C2000,

The distributor has worked with 400 resellers so far this year and has specific growth plans for more than 40 that its public sector team can develop.

Low only took up the public sector director role in February and the channel firm has indicated it believes that investment was a wise one with the business growing and reseller enquiries rising on its microsite. The current focus is on education and then after the summer campaigns to target health and government will be launched.
