Networking specialist ZyXEL has named its UK channel sales manager Antony Byford as its new head of UK and Ireland channels in an attempt to capitalise on strong growth in the market in recent months.
At the same time the firm has promoted product management head James Harris to the role of European market development manager for its Digital Home business unit, while former market development manager for switching and wireless, Jon Pearce, becomes head of Enterprise Solutions market development.
ZyXEL claims it saw 15% sales growth
in the UK and Ireland during the first three months of the year in a market that was otherwise
roughly flat. It saw particular traction around its Unified Security Gateway appliances and 802.11n
wireless access points and controllers, especially in the education and public sector
verticals.
European president Lee Marsden said that the UK and Ireland operation had been instrumental in developing the firm’s channel proposition over the last 12 months, and said the firm wanted “to capitalise on that success, both in the UK and Ireland and across Europe”.
“By making these appointments and handing additional responsibility to this very competent trio, we’re putting those ambitions into very capable hands,” said Marsden.
ZyXEL said it was also working on new additions to its partner programme, and a major refresh of its product lines, set to be announced later in the year.
