NAS optimisation specialist Avere Systems has outlined plans to expand its UK operations and channel base after receiving a cash boost of $20m in its latest round of funding.
The vendor has been selling in the UK for the last year providing technical support and a couple of months ago recruited a storage veteran to head up operations here but is now planning to expand its presence as well as beefing up its French and German offices.
Avere has had three rounds of funding, worth a total of $52m, but the latest backing from Lightspeed Venture Partners is being used for marketing and international purposes.
Ron Bianchini, president and CEO of Avere, said that it wanted to grow its business in the UK and widen its reach beyond some of the verticals it is already well established in, including the media market.
The vendor appointed Exclusive Networks as its UK distributor with a brief of reaching resellers with a reach into the vertical media sector but it is also looking to take its NAS optimisation message into other areas and is looking to recruit more partners with storage expertise.
Bianchini said that optimising NAS boxes from a range of vendors, including EMC and NetApp, meant that it was in an ideal position to help customers make the transition into the cloud and to get the most out of virtualisation.
The vendor has also recently released a low-end product designed to make it more attractive to smaller branch office locations for those customers that want to improve performance at remote locations.
