Cloud delivering growth for Citrix

Linda Endersby

Citrix continues to demonstrate that there is revenue in selling cloud computing with the vendor delivering solid numbers for its second quarter.

There might be a fair bit of hype around the potential of the cloud but it's hard to ignore a 16% increase in revenue growth, from $531m to $615m and net income of $92, for the second fiscal quarter ended 30 June.

“In Q2, we saw solid growth in an uncertain economic climate,” said Mark Templeton, president and CEO for Citrix.

Earlier this month Citrix completed its previously announced acquisition of privately held Bytemobile, a provider of data and video optimization solutions for mobile network operators, for cash consideration of approximately $435 million.

Templeton continued “As the rapid transformation from PC Era to Cloud Era continues, we’re delivering solutions that make it easy for customers to build new clouds, connect to cloud services, and empower their users to work from anywhere.”

Year on year the financial results showed the following revenue increases with product and licenses climbing 10%, professional services up by 37% and license updates and maintenance increasing to the tune of 18%. The EMEA region as a whole produced a 21% rise.
