Databarracks gains cloud certification

Databarracks has gained the Cloud Industry Forum provider certification as a result of proving it will be transparent and open over what it can deliver

Databarracks has become the latest to take the steps to meet the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF) code of practice after backing the group's calls for more standards and transparency.

CIF established a cloud provider code of practice, which is handled by its independent certification partner APM Group, to allow those delivering services to prove that they can demonstrate transparency about their business and exactly what is being offered.

As a member of CIF Databarracks's managing director Peter Groucutt said that it felt it should be leading by example.

"As members of the Cloud Industry Forum it is doubly important for us to meet the requirements set by the organisation. The Certification is recognition that as a responsible Cloud Service Provider offering robust cloud solutions we satisfy the Code’s stipulations for accountability, security and transparency," he said.

He added that the code of practice meant it had to be, "transparent to customers and prospective customers about certain aspects of our services".

Andy Burton, chairman of CIF, said that one of the things holding back cloud adoption had been worries about clarity over what was being delivered, which had led it to introduce the code of practice.

”CIF recognised and has been campaigning for some time for the introduction of industry-wide standardised definitions of cloud services to provide end users with much needed clarity and to drive cloud adoption," he said.
