Canon has introduced its latest multifunction devices (MFD) with some eMaintenance features that are designed to give resellers more of a chance to provide remote managed print services.

The vendor has also carried out some research that indicates that MFD printing is set to become more popular in the next few years with 83% of users expecting to use them more in the future.

With an eye to growing the amount of managed print services that resellers offer Canon has built in services options into its latest MFD imageRunner Advance platform with tools that gives partners the chance to remotely manage and replenish consumables, capture meter readings and fix problems with diagnostic aids.

Alex Thurgood, European & UK channel marketing manager, at Canon, said that resellers now had more options to deliver managed services.

“At a time when our partners are seeking to evolve their business to become more solutions and services-led, the new platform will help them to achieve more value from their customer relationships by offering scalable solutions through a powerful combination of software and services," he said.

Canon's research also revealed that customers were now looking for more mobile printing and the option to print via the cloud. But in addition to wanting more flexibility the users still needed to be convinced about security.
