Sage has recruited former Cisco marketing officer Amanda Jobbins to take responsibility for the software vendor's global brand.
Jobbins will take up the post on 5 November with a job that involves not just keeping an eye on the brand but also strategic product marketing, pricing strategy, corporate communications and global alliances relationships.
Her CV includes several senior positions at Cisco including heading European marketing and a spell as global vice president of partner marketing, which gave her direct contact with many resellers.
Guy Berruyer, chief financial officer and Jobbins new line manager, said that this was the first time they had appointed a group chief marketing officer and it could learn from her previous experience.
"Amanda will play a key role in driving forward our strategy to capture the commercial benefits presented by changing technology and customer requirements and to achieve our growth ambition," he said.
