Acronis has issued an invitation to partners with experience in the Mac, Android or mobile space to get in touch as it seeks to build a European channel for GroupLogic in the wake of its acquisition of the company last month.
The call came as the backup and disaster recovery specialist outlined further steps in its move outwards from the SMB market to the upper mid market and enterprise sectors.
Speaking at the VMWorld event in Barcelona, David Blackman, general manager of EMEA at Acronis, claimed the GroupLogic acquisition represented “a big market opportunity”.
Blackman said the vendor was completing a price list for distribution in Europe and hiring enterprise sales people to promote the GroupLogic products to customers in that space. “They will work with customers but sell through the channel,” he stressed.
One of the GroupLogic products, activEcho, allows enterprise users to share, sync and collaborate on files while giving them anytime, anywhere file access across all their devices. ExtremeZ-IP helps enterprises integrate Mac computers into Windows server and NAS storage environments while mobilEcho provides mobile file management software for enterprise iPad and iPhone users.
Acronis was “looking for partners with uniques, this is a good time for them to be contacting us and vice versa”. He claimed the company was moving into markets where there was no dominant player, leaving the way “open for a fast-moving player like ourselves to come in and take a big piece of the action”.
Following the announcement of the latest version of Acronis BackUp and Recovery, in September, the vendor unveiled vmFlashBack which speeds up virtual machine recovery times by only copying data blocks that have changed. Blackman claimed it “brings backup from the cloud to life”.
