UK and services shine for Computacenter

Simon Quicke

A nine percent rise in services revenue and a strong performance in the UK helped bouy the numbers in the third quarter for Computacenter with the expectation that those twin trends will continue into 2013.

The channel player revealed the state of the last three months in an interim management statement that showed although the services side of the business is growing the supply chain revenues are continuing to struggle, down by 2% in Q3.

The firm has played down the importance of the supply side operations and expects services turnover to increase even more in the fourth quarter and into next year.

The UK managed to turn in growth of 12% year-on-year with £265m with services growth of 18%, helped by several new contracts being signed, and supply chain business increasing by 9%.

Elsewhere in the European operations were not quite as strong with German revenue declining by 6% to £274m and France turning in a flat performance year-on-year.

"Much remains to be done and whilst the Supply Chain business performance in the fourth quarter is not as critical as it once was to Computacenter's overall performance, it still remains an important factor. As a consequence, the Group's trading result is expected to be broadly in line with the Board's revised expectations for 2012," stated the firm.

"Looking to 2013 and beyond, the momentum we have built up in the UK, particularly within our Services business, is highly encouraging," it added.
