Parallels hands Computacenter gold to grow market

Simon Quicke

Virtualisation specialist Parallels has appointed Computacenter as a gold partner with a brief to open up more enterprise accounts for the vendor.

Parallels has been actively trying to build its reputation outside of the Mac environment, where it first made its name, and is expecting Computacenter to get it into accounts in the enterprise and SME space.

Paul Casey, data centre and storage virtualisation technology leader at Computacenter, said that there was a demand from customers for more choice in the market and it would be able to get into new accounts with Parallels.

He added that although virtualisation had been around for many years there were still a large number of customers making the move to embrace the technology and there were still plenty of areas left untapped.

Russell Blackburn, UK and Ireland country manager at Parallels, said that it would be considering making other resellers gold partners, with the possibility of another announcement this year, but it was looking for a relationship that could help it get into different markets.

He added that as a gold partner it would provide Computacenter with benefits that would be designed to help establish a customer base.
