CA Technologies is making the managed services market a major focus for next year as it looks to increase the support it offers those resellers looking to take the step to becoming MSPs.

Thye vendor has been running a centre of excellence for a couple of years to give practical support to MSPs but is viewing next year as a breakthrough one as more resellers opt to go down the services route.

The vendor revealed yesterday that it was appointing a new CEO with a cloud background and even before Michael Gregoire takes up his duties on the 7 January the firm is already focusing on increasing its SaaS business.

"It is a big focus for us the cloud and enabling partners to start offering cloud services and solutions," said Tamar Brooks, UK sales partner director at CA Technologies.

She added that in a recent survey of its partner base two thirds had revealed that cloud was going to be of increasing importance to their business in the short-term and as a result it was putting some investment into the channel team headcount to support those partners.

Sean McCarry, senior director of sales at CA Technologies, said that it was a "step change" for the company and it was in partner acquisition mode as it looked to grow more SaaS business in 2013.

He added that it was where CA expected a lot of its growth to come from in the next few years as more SME businesses started to adopt SaaS services.
