Websense hires channel executive to build value approach

Websense has brought on board a former RSA staffer to help turn its channel model from a transactional one to something built more around value add

Security player Websense has appointed a former RSA executive to run its worldwide channels and speed up the shift from a transactional relationship with partners to one based on value add.

Shawn Pearson, steps into the vice president of worldwide channel sales role coming with a 17 year background in the IT industry and plenty of experience in dealing with resellers and distributors.

Most recently Pearson was senior director of America inside sales and channels at RSA, where he spearheaded the move inside the EMC security division away from a transactional centric model to a value-add approach.

He will be expected to do the same again at Websense and comes into the firm at a time when it is also looking to encourage existing channel partners to take more of its product portfolio.

“His proven track record of channel transformation and partner success makes him a valuable asset to our growing channel team. I look forward to working with him to expand our global partner base across verticals and drive incremental revenue throughout the channel," said John McCormack, Websense CEO.
