Canon is arming resellers with more mobility tools to tap into the growing demand from customers for options that enable them to scan and print documents via the cloud.
The printer vendor has taken the wraps off a Scanning for Business app and an updated Mobile Printing app that will give users the chance to capture and print documents via smart phones and tablets.
The vendor quoted its own research that indicated that there is a growing trend with users working remotely and it is supporting the apps with a couple of black and white multifunction printers that are 'mobile ready'.
Anil Jagpal, European marketing manager for i-SENSYS at Canon Europe, said that the firm had to react to changing customer needs: “According to our Office Insights report, 30 per cent of European office employees are working remotely compared to a few years ago. However, organisations across Europe still struggle to provide technology that enables them to work flexibly on the move."
He said the mobile apps would enable staff to remain "productive inside and outside the office" and the multifunction printers, targeting SMEs and workgroups, also had support for Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print as well as with its own apps.
