Imperva seals double acquisition to boost cloud options

Enterprise security player Imperva has extended its cloud options with a couple of deals to buy start-ups

Enterprise security player Imperva has taken steps to shore up its position in the cloud after snapping up a couple of start-ups specialising in offering different aspects of hosted protection for users.

Imperva has picked up the start-up Skyfence, which has a cloud-based gateway security product, as well as making an agreement to acquire the remaining shares of Incapsula, which offers web-application protection.

On the product front Imperva has also bolstered its own cloud credentials releasing the SecureSphere Web Application Firewall for Amazon Web Services.

“Our acquisition strategy for Skyfence and Incapsula are very similar. We seeded Incapsula four years ago because we recognized that cloud delivery would change the web application security landscape,” said Shlomo Kramer, CEO of Imperva.

“In the case of Skyfence, we believe that Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery models for internally facing corporate applications will substantially change the landscape for data center security and compliance. We are investing in this space early to put us in the best position possible to help new and existing customers," he added.
