Westcon Convergence formally opens Crawley LEAP Centre

Westcon Convergence has cut the ribbon on a new LEAP (Learn, Experience, Architect, Plan) Centre at its West Sussex base.

The centre builds on a concept first developed and showcased at Westcon’s Cisco wing, Comstor, in 2010.

It brings together the distie’s vendor portfolio in a demonstration environment that enables partners to learn about, develop and show off networking solutions. It offers a number of services such as demonstrations, proof of concept and formal and informal training.

“The LEAP Centre will accelerate, simplify the sales process, and increase partners’ creditability by eliminating the difficulties of setting up different demonstrations with a multitude of vendors,” explained Westcon Convergence UK and Ireland GM, Ioan McRae.

“The centre focuses on a more practical and active experience for both partners and end users, where they get to play with the products and see how they can integrate together and access our team of experts when required.”

Greg Lane, head of pre-sales at Avaya Gold partner Worldstone, added: “We have already had a training session at the LEAP Centre and it is a fantastic facility providing us with access to all Westcon’s products where we can experience hands on practical training. I am sure it will open up many opportunities for Worldstone.”

Separately the distie has inked a region-spanning deal with video border security solutions vendor Edgewater Networks to give partners more options around SME video-conferencing.

Edgewater’s flagship EdgeProtect enterprise session border controller helps protect converged voice, video and data traffic, and address network issues around multiple device accessibility, security and policy management and quality of service, among other things.

The vendor claims to remove the barriers to point of entry that the channel has previously faced when trying to get video-conferencing kit in front of SME buyers, and the duo plan to offer substantially lower accreditation and certification charges to partners in order to speed things along.
