SCC could be opening its wallet again in 2014 but it won't be to make a major acquisition as it looks to keep its core activities uninterrupted by further expansion.
The channel player has just sealed a deal to pick up managed print services player M2 Digital as it looks to expand its reach in that side of the market but is not going to be striking many more 'big bang' buys, according to SCC chief executive James Rigby.
Rigby told MicroScope that the firm was making great strides in the managed services arena and its mid-market customer base but one of the concerns was that a series of major deals would disrupt the tempo.
"We certainly have fairly significant resources at hand as we sold the wholsale business but we are not on a mad dash to acquire for the sake of it," he added "We are doing well in managed services and the mid market and there is a nervousness about interrupting that trend."
But Rigby did concede that there could be smaller acquisitions done in areas of the business where it expects some growth opportunities, including networking and security.
"We see lots of opportunities in that area and perhaps could improve our coverage there," he added "But we will be investing organically in the business [this year]."
