Video surveillance start-up Eagle Eye alights on security VARs

Alex Scroxton

Cloud video surveillance start-up Eagle Eye Networks has formed its first channel partner programme and set its sights on reseller recruitment in the UK and EMEA.

The brainchild of former Barracuda Networks frontman Dean Drako, Eagle Eye Networks claims to have developed the first on-demand cloud based security and operations video management system (VMS) to provide both cloud and on-premise recording.

Its VMS offers secure recording, transmission, and storage, camera management, mobile viewing and alerts from a cloud managed platform, and supports a wide range of both IP and analogue cameras. It is hosted in Eagle Eye’s own datacentre to guarantee better quality of service.

Drako reckons that putting video surveillance in the cloud has clear advantages for security, offering greater flexibility and reliability, and lower ownership costs to end users.

Its programme will include pre-qualified lead gen, 24-7 support, joint sales support, and white-labelling options, while a partner dashboard will enable resellers to manage and monitor customer accounts as part of a managed services wrap.

Speaking to MicroScope, Drako said he hoped to have Eagle Eye people on the ground in the UK later this year, and was already in discussions with potential distribution partners.

“We are looking for all sorts of partners,” he said, “but probably we will end up with half networking and compute VARs, and half traditional physical security resellers selling door access systems and so on.

“This maps to a survey we conducted that showed half of IT staff are now active in video surveillance,” he added.
