Intermedia on EMEA charge following SaaSID buy

Alex Scroxton

Hosted cloud office specialist Intermedia is targeting channel growth in the UK as part of an aggressive ramp-up of its European business.

After buying cloud security outfit SaaSID in 2013 and naming its CEO, Ed McNair, as its new EMEA managing director, the firm has been busy integrating SaaSID’s capabilities around single sign on, application control and audit, into its flagship HostPilot delivery solution.

“When we were acquired the premise was to provide an effective on-ramp for Intermedia partners,” explained McNair. “We’ve been phenomenally successful over the past two years, and as more and more customers are moving into the cloud we’re well-placed to work with partners to deliver those services to our customers.”

Intermedia bills itself as the world’s largest one-stop shop for cloud services and business apps, and claims to have been the first company worldwide to offer Microsoft Exchange as a hosted service. It now includes Lync, Sharepoint, security, mobility and more, and recently added email archiving and McAfee Email Defence.

Partners can either resell its services under a white label model, or receive commission for recommending Intermedia as an advisor. Among its partner offerings are special promotions, 24-7 tech support and an online management and provisioning portal.

Its current recruitment campaign will initially focus on the UK, said McNair, with a wider European roll-out expected later this year. The goal, he added, was to quadruple the firm’s channel business.
