Colt names Northdoor as newest franchisee

City of London-based IT solutions consultancy Northdoor has signed up to become the newest franchise partner of Colt, barely a month after the business networking, comms and managed services giant signed a similar deal with Keltec.

The latest signing brings the number of partners currently operating as UK franchisees of Colt’s services package to four.

For IBM and Microsoft partner Northdoor – which counts businesses such as Deutsche Bank and Pret a Manger among its success stories – the agreement will centre on the expansion of its infrastructure and managed services package with new options around Ethernet, IP VPN, IP access and voice services, that it says will strengthen its customers’ operating efficiency.

It will get access to a dedicated account team, marketing support, technical training and other partner tools on the way to becoming authorised to represent Colt from sales through order handling, project implementation, and ultimately billing.

Colt franchise channel director Carol Alexander said the rationale behind signing a firm such as Northdoor was chiefly to help it target new market verticals.

“By offering Northdoor the opportunity to sell integrated network and communications services under the Colt brand, it will accelerate the reach of our services. Northdoor impressed us with its wealth of market experience, technical knowledge, customer focus and agility,” she said.

Northdoor CEO David Ballard added: “As a consultancy and solutions provider that has been delivering and supporting IT solutions to enterprise and SME customers for 25 years, entering into a partnership with Colt brings many advantages to our customers, helping them to continue to achieve their business objectives through IT enablement.”

Colt’s franchise channel operates in a number of other European markets, including Benelux, France, Germany and Spain. The scheme was first tabled in 2012, with the intent of increasing Colt’s exposure to SME customers and helping communications resellers address the transition to managed services models.
