Dragons bring distribution luck for ZTE, Exertis Micro-P

Alex Scroxton

Exertis Micro-P has signed a new distribution agreement with Chinese telecoms and network hardware firm ZTE in a deal brokered by The [Tech] Crowd’s Channel Dragons matchmaking initiative.

ZTE had previously told MicroScope it was in talks with a third distribution partner; it already sells broadband CPE and IP phones through Netlink Solutions for broadband CPE and IP phones, and CPE, IP phones, dongles and switching kit through EntaTech.

The deal with Exertis Micro-P will see the Lancs-based distie take on enterprise products such as CPE, switches, APs and controllers, video-conferencing, and IP telephony at first.

However, as [Tech] Crowd MD Jamie Plumridge noted that Exertis Micro-P’s strong consumer product strategy would also allow it to expand out to touch a wider range of potential customers – ZTE being one of the largest smartphone manufacturers worldwide.

“Its range is predominantly aimed at the enterprise market, which makes this a natural starting point, but with additional products for consumers and operators we’re confident that this new partnership can help fully maximise an exciting potential revenue stream over the coming months,” said Plumridge.

With The [Tech] Crowd working alongside the duo on goal setting and marketing plans, Exertis Micro-P has also added more resource internally, handing networking commercial manager Michael Thompson responsibility for the ZTE account, with a particular focus on identifying the most appropriate channels, whether SME or retail, for ZTE’s broad portfolio.

Gavin O’Shea, Exertis Micro-P GM of networks and UC, said: “This is a great opportunity to engage with a very experienced and successful vendor team at ZTE. The breadth of technology available allows us to draw together and present first class products from across three of our business units.”
