Ingram Micro VentureTech Network off to flying start

Alex Scroxton

The recently-launched UK chapter of Ingram Micro’s VentureTech Network (VTN) idea-sharing and collaboration programme has initiated 13 new members, with three more pledges waiting in the wings, the distributor has revealed.

Ingram imported VTN into the UK earlier this year after a long and successful run in the US, and welcomed the new members at its first meeting earlier this month.

Following a vote among members, the ‘Apollo’ chapter has already attracted praise from a number of partners.

Mark Davies, sales and marketing director at hosted comms provider and Microsoft partner Cobweb Solutions said: “I …was pleasantly surprised at the openness and engagement with all attendees. There was a real sense of community and I’m already working on mutual business opportunities from the day, so I’m very positive.

“The commitment from the whole team at Ingram Micro was evident and their positive influence helped drive the mood amongst the attendees. Also, using Ingram Micro’s relationships with larger vendors should give VTN partners the opportunity to leverage more support than they would traditionally manage by themselves.”

Enzo Brienza, sales director at HP partner RFL Communications, talked up the opportunities for business growth within the VTN programme.

“We have some great objectives to cover in our chapter but my focus is on my business objectives which I trust will be accelerated with the help and assistance of Ingram Micro and the chapter members,” he explained.

Chapter president and director at Cisco and Microsoft specialist Wavex Technology, Mark Williams, added: ““VTN really is what the channel has been looking for - a focused group of business owners and senior executives sharing ideas and opportunities to grow their organisations.  The level of engagement and honesty was refreshing and is exactly what the community stands for.

“I am excited for our next session where we will focus on the specifics around inhibitors and enablers of growth in our complex market.”

The UK chapter’s next meeting is in May and members of the chapter will be gathering with their US VTN colleagues at Ingram Micro’s Spring Invitational event “IMOne”, in New Orleans in the same month.
