WatchGuard to part ways with Ingram

Simon Quicke

WatchGuard is ending its long standing relationship with Ingram Micro as it reduces the number of distributors it operates with in the UK and Ireland.

The security vendor has been a partner with Ingram since 2002 but will go forward now with Wick Hill, Northamber and MicroWarehouse in Dublin.

According to sources the decision to move away from WatchGuard came on the back of a decision by the vendor to streamline its distribution partners and opt for just a trio that could support its growth ambitions.

Jon-Marc Wilkinson, distribution manager for UK and Ireland at WatchGuard, did not want to go into the specifics of the relationship change but did confirm that it was changing its distribution line-up.

"WatchGuard and Ingram Micro have had a productive, long-standing relationship but we made the decision to maximise our resources behind three distributors across the UK and Ireland," he said.

"I believe this change will ultimately benefit our channel, especially when combined with our forthcoming value-driven partner programme," he added.

The vendor is on the brink of introducing changes to its partner programme, that have been work in progress over the last few months, and should make more details of the available next month.
