Poole gets EMC channel hotseat

Simon Quicke

EMC has moved quickly to appoint from within to replace Terry Beale as its head of channel in the UK and Ireland after turning to a veteran staffer to ensure there is a smooth transition in the role.

Beale only ended a two year stint in the channel job at the end of June after moving into a position running EMC's XtremeIO flash business across EMEA but has been supporting partners until his replacement was appointed.

His replacement Russell Poole has 15 years of EMC employment under his belt, including spells in the service provider business and most recently the storage giant's public sector organisation.

Poole will continue to head the public sector operation as well as running the channel in UK and Ireland and will help navigate the vendor's channel through the current market cloud-fueled transformation.

“Russell has done a phenomenal job at EMC already. With significant shifts taking place in the market, his expertise will be crucial in ensuring our channel and partners continue to grow and become more profitable," said James Petter, senior vice president, managing director UK&I at EMC.
