Sage has started the hunt for a CEO after long serving incumbent Paul Walker announced plans to quit the software company.
Walker has been with Sage for 16 years as CEO and has informed the board that he intends to step down.
According to reports which emerged yesterday in the Sunday Times the UK software firm has already hired head hunters to find a replacement but it is not being specific on the time the process will take.
In a statement the vendor confirmed that Walker had left: "Paul Walker, Chief Executive, has advised the Board of his intention to stand down from the company in due course, after sixteen years as Chief Executive and twenty-six years with the company. Paul and the Board will work to ensure a seamless transition and the Board will make a further announcement at the appropriate time."
One of the internal candidates will be a name familiar with the channel Paul Stobart who runs the UK and Ireland operation.
Richard Holway, chairman of TechMarketView wrote in the analysts daily update that whoever comes into replace Walker would have a challenge in involving the company more in cloud computing with efforts so far being described as "rather half-hearted".
