SAP's co-founder and chairman of the supervisory board has talked of the need to quickly restore trust following the surprise departure yesterday of CEO Leo Apotheker.
In a conference call Hasso Plattner hinted that things had not been going well during Apotheker's reign.
"A profitable company is a happy company and I will do everything to make SAP a happy company again," he added. "We are not unhappy but we have to be happier."
He also talked about the need to restore trust both internally and with the channel and customers.
"What SAP has to re-establish is trust between all partners, customers and employees. We have lost it here or there," he said.

Plattner added that the vendor had products around cloud, databases and
memory computing coming down the pipe which should help it win back
some customers lost to rivals.
"SAP has not forgotten you and many successful systems cannot be changed overnight but we will do everything possible to speed up upgrades," Plattner said to customers.
Apotheker stepped down following a vote of no confidence from the board, with the vendor confirming in a statement that he had left by mutual consent after it decided not to renew his contract that expired in December 2010.
As a result, the board has named Bill McDermott, currently SAP head of field organisations and Jim Hagermann Snabe, who is in charge of product development as joint CEOs.
