Established in 1993, the Business Link network has been a valuable source of help, advice and information for some.
All of the Business Links (in England) and their fellow organisations in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, receive their funding through Regional Development Agencies or the equivalent.
However, all is not well. The Business Links are under threat through, as you might guess, funding cuts as all of the Regional Development Agencies are to be abolished in 2012.
The replacements are to be Local Enterprise Partnerships that involve local authorities working with private business. As to the effectiveness of the new bodies, well it's anyone's guess as it's quite clear that local authorities are going to be very short of cash.
It is understood that the Business Link website - which is very useful - will still carry on though.
