To somewhat limited fanfare, parts of the new Equality Act came into force on 1 October. The Act, originally passed by the previous Labour Government, brings all the forms of discrimination into one piece of legislation.

Discrimination law is patently a perpetual minefield for employers judging by the number of claims that come before the tribunals. But ACAS, the employment relations service has come to the rescue with a series of free tools to help employers avoid unnecessary claims.

Of course if you choose to ignore the new legislation, you can always call on ACAS to help you out.
