It was heartening yesterday to see that even the finest minds in the comms industry can't always get technology right...
Tuning in to a live video webcast from the States to mark the launch of the latest version of Avaya's SMB IP Office suite, the assembled journalists were treated first to a monologue from CEO Kevin Kennedy that sounded as if it was being transmitted down a piece of string.
This was then followed by a good 30 seconds of the testcard before a presentation from Avaya senior vice president Alan Baratz, during which a Nortel desk phone stubbornly refused to play nice.
Gremlins in the works? Did someone feed Jeremy Butt after midnight again? Or is Avaya maybe being haunted by a vengeful Canadian spirit?
