The implementation of the Bribery Act - see BusinessMan 2 November - has been delayed from its proposed start date in April.
The cause of the delay is the Ministry of Justice, which still has to publish final Guidance on 'adequate procedures'.
This should have been out now but is delayed as the Ministry is "working to ensure that the Guidance is practical and comprehensive for business".
The Ministry of Justice has confirmed that there will now be a delay of three months after the Guidance is published to allow businesses to prepare for and adapt to the new regime.
However, there is no precise date for the publication of the Guidance or the implementation of the Act.
And of course this isn't the first delay to the Act; in July 2010 implementation was postponed until April 2011 in order to give companies a chance to put proper procedures in place.
This was first published in February 2011
