Cookie Monster V2

On April 8 BusinessMan reported that the Government has to bring into effect new EU legislation on website cookies. That legislation is now coming into law on 26 May - earlier than anticipated.

The Information Commissioners Officer has now published guidance relating to the legislation that is available here. The guidance aims to help businesses comply with the new rules, help them consider what type of cookie technology to use (and for what aim) and how they should be obtaining consent from visitors for the placing of cookies on their computers.

Presumably the ICO will be on the lookout for cases that he can publicly resolve just to get the message out that he has new powers and isn't afraid to use them.
