Getting ready for the end of year rush

In the last couple of days of the year I'm likely to be stuck on a sofa weighed down by chocolate or in some returns queue taking back faulty goods.

But if I was hard working and worked in distribution or a reseller then those last two days of the year would be some of my busiest. As the orders come through from dealers and users keen to exploit the end of year financials of vendors the orders can fly in.

One distributor told me that the last two days of the year have become their busiest of the year and old fashioned ideas of skeleton teams of staff had been overtaken by events.

"If the vendor operates to the calendar year then the resellers know that they can get on the phone and ask that little bit more than normal. It's got busier and busier over the last couple of years," he said.

So if you are pushing through the wrappers to get to the last of the Quality Street come 30 December think of those working hard to make the channel tick over.
