The high street is suffering - we all know that. The causes are many - the state of the economy, lookalike towns, traffic congestion, parking and of course, the growth of the web. But what to do?
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has teamed up with business organisations, traders and town centre managers to produce a guide that aims to give a boost to flagging retail sales.
The guide - snappily called Healthy High Street - offers hints and tips on getting a retail area back on its feet including checking the attractiveness of a local area, the aforementioned parking and traffic issues and the array of (different) shops on offer.
From there, it's just a case - if only it were that simple - of drawing up an action plan, which the guide offers advice on.
