Libya: Internet was "probably switched off by The Great Satan" claims spokesman

We thought the explanation for Egypt's Internet shutdown was creative. "A cleaner must have switched it off".

It's back on again in Egypt now, according to Arbor Networks.

But, as rumours emerge that Tripoli will erupt, and reports filter out of 35 deaths in Libya, a new nation's networks have been closed down, says the network security specialist.

The explanation for the sudden denial of service? "You shouldn't be asking us!" shouts a very undiplomatic man on the phone. "You should phone the American Embassy. Death to the Great Satan."
