Word on the street is that Cisco is about to expand its distribution channel with sources expecting Micro P to take on the SME and consumer product range.
The distributor ran a training weekend that started on 23 October with a number of vendors presenting to Micro P sales staff.
One of the main sponsors was a certain networking vendor beginning with C.
The SME line-up, initially formed through the acquisition of Linksys, includes switches, routers, wireless and physical security and voice. It is aimed at businesses with 1 to 100 seats and competes with manufacturers such as D-Link and ZyXEL.
Distributors already carrying Cisco's SMB line include global players Comstor, Ingram Micro, Azlan and UK national Northamber.
Cisco committed to a massive shake-up of its SMB and consumer channel at its partner conference in Boston in 2009, and the appointment of a new distributor will certainly add another string to its bow.
