The downside of a long weekend off

The looming jubille weekend might get many excited but for businesses there is inevitably lost revenue to worry about.

There will be surveys that put some horrendous figures to it but you can guarantee that millions will be lost to the UK economy and the subject of bank holidays will again come under the microscope.

Last year we had the royal wedding and this time round its a party sixty years in the making but whatever the occasion it is the idea of losing two working days that will disturb some employers.

Add to the the arrival not long after the Euro football championships, always a reason for some staff to take days off recovering from watching the game the night before, and then of course its the Olympics.

The challenge for many businesses in the next couple of months is going to be maintaining some sort of consistency. We all like to have a day off but keeping focused might be an issue and right now with the world threatening to collapse around the ears again keeping focused is something we all need to do.
