Now in its fifteenth year the aim is to take the fund raising, which stands at £4.3m since it started, over the £5m mark, with the money going to Action for Children, a charity that supports the fight against youth homelessness.
Over the years many of the great and the good in the channel have sacrificed a night's sleep to camp down under the stars to generate funds for the charity and this year is bound to be the same.
The event takes place on 5 October at a series of locations around the country and already some senior executives from BT, Salesforce.com and Ernst & Young have signed up.
"Byte Night 2012 marks the culmination of 14 years of generosity, commitment and most of all, sleepless nights. It's incredibly humbling to think just how far we've come. Who would have thought, on that cold October night in 1998 that fifteen years later, not only would we still be going, but that we would be growing," said Byte Night founder and director of the Amber Group Ken Deeks.
