Workers on fire?

Now that we have smoke free work places, non-smoking workers are quite rightly upset at the extra time off that smokers get during the working day as they take unofficial 'fag' breaks'.

As a guide to employers, staff at Norfolk based Breckland Council who wish to smoke during working hours - which by definition means going outside - now have to clock off and then clock back in on their return. Coffee breaks which can be taken inside, using staff kitchens, are outside of this new rule.

It worth noting that the change was made following consultation with the HR department and a survey of the council's 280 members of staff.
