Prior to joining the distribution arm of Computacenter as sales director in August 2006, Perkins was UK director at Azlan, the networking division at Basingstoke-based C2000.
Talking to Microscope, Andy Gass, C2000 UK managing director – who had also been acting sales director following the departure of John Doughty earlier this year – said the appointment would free up his time.
“This will allows me to focus more on business development activities particularly around the mobile space where there is a lot of cross selling opportunities between IT and communications,” he said.
“But we are also looking at acquisition opportunities that will come up and I will now have the bandwidth to go for them,” Gass added.
Perkins will be in charge of product marketing and sales in the volume portfolio, with Jon Sidwick heading up Maverick, Andy Shepperd overseeing Azlan and Dave Watts and Richard Baxendale managing Datec and Brightstar respectively.
Commercial director Alice Smitheman has become marketing director of the five aforementioned business units.
