Dell has unveiled a public sector certification for US partners operating in the public sector according to reports and the specialisation may just be winding its way to Europe.
Twenty resellers will be ushered into the accreditation stateside and Dell which does business with around 300 other Government focused partners country is looking to authorise more.
Greg Davis, vice president of Dell Amercias channel group told CRN US it had strong ties with resellers in the public sector “but there are a lot that have not worked with Dell in the past.
“We are growing our business with our current set of partners and we’re hoping [other VARs] will use these sets of benefits that make Dell attractive in the federal space,” Davis said.
Last month, Josh Claman, vice president of Dell’s EMEA channel said resellers could expect to see “more layering on that Certified programme to build more types of specialisations”.
On Tuesday, Microscope revealed that Dell is piloting a managed service specialisation in London with resellers, following a month long pilot undertaken by its direct sales force.
This scheme had launched in the US earlier this year but that does not mean that the public sector certification will automatically transfer to Europe.
Claman said the channel would need to adopt a watching brief, “we have a global programme and the US takes some elements first or we do. I assume it will come to Europe as it has some value.”
To meet the US certification, resellers must meet a range of criteria including Enterprise Foundations product expertise, spend at least $2.5m with Dell annually and have more than 10 staff supporting Government business
Public sector partners will be given deal registration for 120 days and 45 days credit.
Weeks ago Dell publicly unveiled Skye Group as its first Certified partner in the UK, specialising in Enterprise Architecture.
