Avnet has added
high speed encryption to its security product portfolio by securin the rights to distribute Swiss-based
InfoGuard's network encryption products in the UK, Germany, The Netherlands and
Austria
.
Commenting on the deal, Paul
Reeve, director for networks and security at Avnet Technology Solutions EMEA
Networks, said there was a "growing need for optical encryption" as
optical networks became more critical and criminals applied more sophisticated
techniques to try and intercept valuable information in transit.
He added that InfoGuard had
"an exciting product roadmap that will potentially open new market
segments and opportunities for our customers".
InfoGuard CEO Thomas Meier
said the relationship with Avet would enable the vendor "to reach a much
larger channel" and provide a consistent level of sales, fulfilment and
support for partners and users.
"Our relationship with
Avnet is part of a long term strategy," he added, "and will help us
to deliver a new category of high performance encryption technologies which we
plan to launch at the beginning of next year."
Avnet is InfoGuard's first
distributor in the UK although it has one direct resell partner, Focus Europe.
