Midwich
and Imago have come out of a distribution consolidation process being carried
out by Sony unscathed but C2000/Maverick has lost its right to handle the
vendors products.
Sony
has decided to lean on distribution to increase its IT and AV profile with
Midwich handling the SMB and education space for IT and both distributors
handling the sale of products into the corporate market.
In
their role as premier distribution partners Midwich and Imago are expected to increase
market share and support Sony as it moves to increase its presence in markets
including digital signage.
In a statement, Raj
Pandya General Manager for Sony B2B Channels, said that it had made the moves
to respond to a changing market that was being driven by a diverse customer
base.
Darren
Lewitt, divisional director at Midwich, and Ian Vickerage, managing director at
Imago, both talked of adding value to Sony and helping the vendor take market
share.
