Network security
and business continuity specialist Stonesoft has signed a pan-European
distribution contract with Magirus, adding another distributor to its UK roster
in the process but stressing the deal will complement its existing partner
base.
The companies
will focus on Stonesoft's products for VMWare environments and the vendor
believes the deal will enable it to recruit VMWare partners to sell its
StoneGate Firewall and IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) appliances.
Niall McGrane,
Magirus northern Europe director for security and virtualisation, described the
StoneGate products as "a strong addition" to the distributor's
portfolio.
He argued it
would provide business partners with "an intelligent and adaptive approach
to securing and managing the virtual network. This is one of the biggest
challenges facing business partners and their customers at the moment."
Commenting on the
deal, Stonesoft UK and Ireland country manager Ashish Patel said it would
strengthen the vendor's position in the European market.
Magirus was a "beneficial value added distributor for Stonesoft because of
it strong focus on IT security and virtualisation and extensive European
presence.
He stressed the
agreement complemented Stonesoft's existing security-focused partner base and
opened up another avenue of resellers for Stonesoft with Magirus
"targeting its partners within the virtualisation space with the StoneGate
products".
The deal with
Magirus covers 10 European countries, including the UK, France, Spain, Germany,
Austria and Italy.
