Security distributor Wick Hill has been appointed by ArcSight as the need for managing appliance systems logs spreads out from the enterprise market.
With most mid sized companies and enterprise-sized operations now using various security appliances to protect against all manner of threats ranging from firewalls, VPNs and content inspection there is an increasing pressure on IT administrators to monitor the output of those devices.
“You would have to be a genius to take those logs and get an overall picture. So the demand is to take all of that data and complete the picture,” said Ian Kilpatrick, chairman of Wick Hill.
He added that both Gartner and IDC were predicting strong growth in the security event management area and it could see the ArcSight product being an opportunity for resellers because they would be solving a problem that appeared to be complex to the user.
Steve Durkin, regional sales manager at ArcSight, operating with the UK channel, said that it turned to distribution to grow its market and believed that Wick Hill had the necessary relationships with security resellers.
