Business broadband and comms provider Gamma Telecom has
lifted the lid on a new assured IP telephony services proposition that the firm
has claimed is the first such service to carry a guaranteed end-to-end SLA.
Speaking to MicroScope, Gamma marketing director Richard
Bligh said this meant Gamma IP services would now come with “serious,
heavyweight policies around quality of service (QoS)”.
In theory, this means that the traditional problems with
broadband speed and so on can be resolved more quickly, with resellers getting
access to the same kind of services that enterprise-level carriers might use,
such as diagnostics, troubleshooting and 24/7 support.
“If there are problems, it means the end-user isn’t caught
between the telephony provider and the access provider, with the reseller
helpless in the middle,” Bligh said.
Bligh hoped the ability to offer cast iron QoS guarantees
would tempt more resellers that had not considered offering comms in the past.
He added: “We won’t be turning around and saying ‘you’ve got
a problem with your access provider’, we’ll step up to manage the whole service
and make sure both our partners and their customers are kept happy.”
