Despite the gloom and doom of the recession the Christmas
party season has not been cancelled in the IT sector.
The channel still looks like getting the chance to get drunk, slapped for asking out the secretary and photocopying rear ends as a significantnumber of
employers argue that having a good time is an essential part of boosting
morale for staff.
According to research from the Chartered Management
Institute 67% of those in the IT sector believed a party was good for staff,
although just above a third warned that something too extravagant would have a
negative impact on reputation.
Some of the other planned activities in the IT market for
Christmas included giving staff individual gifts and time off.
Jo Causon, director, marketing and corporate affairs at the Chartered
Management Institute, said that controlling Christmas budgets was no great
surprise given the current economic climate.
“However, it is encouraging to see that responsible budget
management is going hand-in-hand with an effort to thank staff for their
efforts during the year and a determination to recognise hard work.”
