As could be expected the wish lists have started to come out
in the run up to the pre-budget report, which will be announced towards the end
of the month.
Among the concerns will be a hope that the government will
do more for small businesses to ease the pressure they currently face.
The Forum for Private Business (FPB) has submitted its
proposals ahead of the pre-budget report, taking place on 24 November.
Phil Orford, chief executive of the FPB, said that it wanted
the government to make sure that the banks passed on lending to small
businesses.
"We have
submitted a petition to the 10
Downing Street website to this end, and, along
with tackling the burden of tax and regulation, this forms a central component
of our submission to the Government’s Pre-Budget Report. It is important that the correct measures
are put in place to support both small firms and the economy as a whole,” he
said.
The FPB is
calling for a cut in corporation tax and more relief for small companies on the
tax front.
The government
has been trying to put more pressure on banks since it injected millions into
the banking system to get them to restore lending levels back to the level of
last year.
